Dr. Lu approaches each patient with an overall facial balance in mind. Enhancing the contours of the chin will provide a more sculpted appearance and a more youthful profile.
Chin augmentation is performed through a small incision below the chin through which a soft, biocompatible implant is secured in front of lower jaw. As Dr. Lu inserts the implant, he will carefully mold it around your chin bone and secure in place. Implants come in all shapes and sizes.
In some scenarios, facial fillers may help restore balance to the facial features. However, the results may only last between 12-24 months. This is often a decent approach for patients who are seeking a ‘preview’ of their new look before moving forward with a permanent commitment.

We take the safety and results of your Chin augmentation surgery seriously. Therefore, it is very important to understand all aspects of your chin surgery. Be sure to ask several questions, perhaps have a prepared checklist of questions to ask Dr. Lu and his surgical patient coordinators.
Your Chin Augmentation Procedure
First, Dr. Lu will make a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth where the gum and lower lip meet, so there will be no visible scar.
Next, he will gently stretch the skin to create a small pocket. As the implant is inserted, he will mold it around your chin bone and secure in place.
Dr. Lu will then suture the incision closed and finally bandage the chin with a dressing that will remain in place for 2-3 days.
Your Buccal Fat Removal Recovery
Most patients feel a stretched, tight sensation after surgery that usually subsides after a week and are back to desk work within 7 days of surgery.
Discomfort is typically minimal and easily controlled with pain medication or cold compresses.
You will need to sleep face-up, with your head elevated for a minimum of 1-2 weeks after surgery to help control post-op swelling. Strenuous activity can typically be resumed within 3-4 weeks after chin augmentation. You can see the improved contour of your chin immediately after the procedure, but it will take about 6-8 weeks for all the swelling to resolve.
