Treatment overview
A “double-chin” or weak jawline can be a result of excess fat and skin laxity that can be addressed with liposuction. Typically, three small incisions measuring 2-3 mm in size are discretely made under the chin and behind each earlobe to numb up this area and then perform the liposuction. Liposuction can be combined with VASER or J-Plasma (Renuvion) to not only remove fat, but also to tighten the skin with minimal scars.Rhinoplasty can be combined with functional procedures such as a septoplasty to address a deviated septum, turbinate reduction to improve breathing or repair of a previous nasal fracture. These functional procedures can sometimes be covered by your insurance plan.

How it Works
The Consultation
At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different. Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.
We charge $100 for surgical consultations that last about 40 minutes. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your surgery for a day and time that works for your schedule.
The Procedure
A “double-chin” or weak jawline can be due to heredity, aging, or fluctuations in weight. Although Kybella can nonsurgically remove fat, the injections can require multiple sessions and do not allow the skin to re-drape and tighten. On the other hand, liposuction directly removes fat and allows the skin to re-drape by undermining the skin. When combined with VASER or J- Plasma (Renuvion), there can be direct skin tightening/contraction. Conservative liposuction of the jowl region can also improve the appearance of the lower face.
The procedure is most frequently done under local anesthesia and is an outpatient procedure at our surgery center, which means you will go home the same day.
The Recovery
Immediately following the procedure, you will be placed in a compression garment to deter excess swelling and for optimal healing. Although each patient is given individual instructions for recovery care, we require ample rest in order to promote healing and comfort. Your surgeon will expect to see you within 24-48 hours following the surgery in order to ensure your healing is on track for the best results.
