Ditch Your Double Chin, Feel More Confident
The first and only FDA-approved injectable drug to treat submental fullness (aka “double chin”), Kybella in Vernon Hills is a safe and proven way to get rid of the frustrating extra fat in your neck.
Master Trainer Dawn Davidson, RN at RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa frequently administers Kybella in Vernon Hills, achieving beautiful, natural results guaranteed to leave you feeling confident and satisfied.

Treatment overview
Kybella works as a series of multiple injections under the chin over the course of 15 to 20 minutes.
The gel used in Kybella is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule.
The injections are deigned to break down and kill off the fat cells, which prevents them from storing and accumulating fat. Most people need two to four treatments, however some will need up six treatments. Over time, the submental fullness will decrease and give you a tighter looking neck and chin!
Potential Candidates Include:
-
People who are self-conscious, embarrassed or unhappy with their double chin.
-
People who feel older and heavier because of their double chin.
-
People who want an alternative to surgery.
-
People who can't seem to lose their double chin, regardless of diet and exercise

How it Works
The Consultation
At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different.
Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.

A typical consultation lasts about 40 minutes and is free of charge for all aesthetic treatments, including Kybella. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your first treatment session.
The Procedure
As with any procedure, we start your Kybella treatment by ensuring your total comfort in a clean, comfortable, and private treatment room.
Our medical providers will then provide a numbing material to the target area before administering a series of small injections throughout the neck and chin area. The exact number of injections varies on the level of fat under your chin, as well as on the individual goals for your treatment plan.
Each procedure usually lasts anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes, with guaranteed permanent results. Following the treatment, patients are free to continue all normal daily activities. Subsequent appointments may follow in the weeks after your initial treatment, depending on your own individual plan.
The Recovery
Immediately after the procedure, soreness in the injection area is a common side effect. Usually, this soreness lasts for up to two hours. Puffiness, bruising and swelling are also common around the injection site.
Most treatments include little to no downtime and you can resume all normal activities following treatment. However, in rare cases, serious side effects may include each of the following:
- Nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness)
- Trouble swallowing
- Severe injection site problems bruising, hair loss, open sores, damage and tissue cell-death
If any one of these symptoms occur, please contact your healthcare provider.
