What Is Cellulite, and Why Do I Have It?
Cellulite is widespread, reportedly affecting over 90% of all women. Three components lead to the dimpled skin of cellulite. First, with age, your fat cells get more prominent, the skin gets thinner, and underlying fibrous bands – called septa – tighten irregularly. Septa stiffen or shrink over time, causing thigh and butt dimples. It typically takes up to 10 septa to create one dimple.
Cellulite causes an “orange-peel” appearance on the:
- Buttocks
- Thighs
- Hips
- Abdomen
- Upper arms
- Breasts
Avéli allows our clinicians to accurately identify each septum, then release your butt and thigh dimples, leaving you with smoother skin on your backside. No other aesthetic therapy offers this level of precision and verification.

What Is Avéli?
Unfortunately, topical creams, massage, and weight loss don’t consistently address the core cellulite issue. There are no exercises to rid yourself of cellulite, either.
Avéli is a new FDA-approved, minimally invasive device that has recently hit the market for the long-term reduction of cellulite dimples on the buttocks and thighs. Here’s everything you need to know about this treatment.

Unlike other cellulite reduction procedures, the Avéli technology only requires a single appointment. During the process, your RL Center Medspa medical professional will first slide a small, hook-shaped device through a tiny incision. This hook releases a small razor to incise the septa. Next, we insert the device into the fatty tissue at the fibrous attachment locations to sever those connections. With the bands released, the skin lifts upward, creating a smoother appearance.
The Avéli device is an advanced technology that allows us to snip the specific bands creating the depressions and receive verification about those severed septa. This process takes the guesswork out and allows us to do a thorough job.
Since we perform Avéli on patients who are under local anesthesia, you shouldn’t feel any discomfort during your session. However, you’ll likely experience soreness and bruising afterward. After about a month, all the swelling should diminish for outstanding visible improvement.
The Avéli Process
We’ll begin by marking the treatment area. Then, we will numb your skin with a local lidocaine injection. Once the target site is numb, we will insert the Avéli handpiece – a small wand with a retractable blade – beneath your skin. This blade physically cuts the individual septa bands, providing precise results for pleasing smoothness.
Lastly, we will cover the area with an absorbent dressing, cushioned pads, and tight compression leggings to minimize swelling and bruising. You can return to your usual activities after your session. Still, please avoid vigorous lower body exercise, like jogging or running, for 10 days to two weeks.

Who’s a Candidate for Avéli Cellulite Treatment?
ClearV® is not a one-size-fits-all solution—it’s a versatile treatment that targets a wide range of vascular concerns with precision and effectiveness. Our advanced laser technology delivers targeted energy to address various indications, ensuring optimal results for every patient.
The best candidates for Avéli are women in good health who experience cellulite dimples on their buttocks and thighs. They’re looking to reduce cellulite and achieve tighter, smoother skin in a single office session, and have reasonable expectations about the procedure.
While Avéli boasts impressive results for most people, a few exceptions exist. Patients who undergo this procedure should have good skin elasticity. Those with more mature skin will have wrinkles and laxity, which do not respond well to this procedure.
You may not be a good candidate for Avéli if any of the following apply to you:
- Your cellulite is primarily because of skin laxity.
- You have a BMI over 30.
- You’ve had liposuction in the treatment area.
