Treatment Overview
Gynecomastia is typically characterized by an excess of fat, skin, and/or glandular breast tissue – or a combination of all these elements – in the breasts.
This condition often results in an enlarged breast appearance, which can lead to extreme self-consciousness and even depression in men. It can also cause breasts that look disproportionate, as well as breast tenderness and a swelling or protruding effect on the nipples. Dr. Lu will reduce the size of the breasts, remove excess skin, and flatten the chest so that it can enhance the masculine contours of the chest. Severe cases of gynecomastia might cause the breasts to sag, which could then stretch the areola. In that case, your surgeon will reposition and resize your areola.

How it Works
The Consultation
At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different.
Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.
We charge $100 for surgical consultations that last about 40 minutes. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your surgery for a day and time that works for your schedule.
Gynecomastia Surgery
Depending on your specific condition, our procedure will be performed under general or local anesthesia.
Your gynecomastia surgery will reduce the size of the breasts, remove excess skin, and flatten the chest so that it can enhance the masculine contours of the chest. Severe cases of gynecomastia might cause the breasts to sag, which could then stretch the areola. In that case, your surgeon will reposition and resize your areola.
Recovery
Your procedure will be an outpatient procedure in Northern Suburbs of Chicago, so you will be able to go home on the same day as the surgery.
Patients will be provided with a compression vest to help shape the new chest and to help reduce swelling. It’s advised that patients should avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks. You will be provided with pain medication to help with any discomfort, and once that’s been discontinued, patients will be able to return to work.
