Vaser Liposuction is a popular procedure across the United States due to its relatively simple nature and proven results.
There are several different types of liposuction, but all focus on the elimination of unwanted fat in several different parts of the body.
- Vaser stands for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance “ and is often referred to as “4D Sculpting or High-Definition Liposuction.” This technique allows Dr. Lu to reduce fat in greater detail that follows the natural contours of the musculature
- The ultrasound-assisted removal of fat greatly reduces trauma to surrounding tissues for a reduced risk of complications and quicker recovery
- Incidentally, fat extracted using Vaser is of optimal quality to be purified for injection into the breasts, buttocks, or other areas of fat transfer

How it Works
The Consultation
At RL Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa, each initial patient consultation is different. Depending on your needs, desired treatments, areas of concern, and simply who you are as a patient, we will schedule you with an actual treatment provider to discuss your goals, budget, and more. During this appointment, we will go through before & after photos, your medical history, and any questions you might have. Only then can we make a recommendation for which procedures or treatments may be right for you and why. We will be sure to educate you on how the treatments work, including what to expect during and afterward.
We charge $100 for surgical consultations that last about 40 minutes. At the end of your consultation, you will leave our office in Vernon Hills with a thorough, personalized treatment plan. And when you’re ready, we’ll schedule your surgery for a day and time that works for your schedule.
The Procedure
Vaser Lipo is an outpatient procedure that takes about one to five hours, and the patient will be placed under general or local anesthesia throughout the entire time. Before your procedure, you’ll be given a list of instructions to follow post-operatively. Following these instructions will ensure a much smoother procedure.
For the procedure, an incision will be made in the treatment area and “tumescent” fluid (a dilute solution of lidocaine and epinephrine) will be infiltrated. The Vaser ultrasound device will then be used to break up the fat cells and make them easier to remove by liposuction with a thin, hollow tube or cannula. The end result will be a smoother, more improved body contour.
Mommy Makeover Recovery
Before any cosmetic surgery, including VASER Lipo, your surgeon will review your recovery schedule in detail so you feel prepared for what to expect afterwards. VASER Lipo is an outpatient procedure that we perform in our surgical facility, which means you’ll be able to go home the same day. In general, you’ll still be experiencing the effects of the anesthesia when you arrive home. Therefore, it’s important to have someone who can drive you home and take care of you for the first 24 hours following your VASER Lipo. Your surgeon will send you home with both instructions for your recovery and supplies that will help your VASER Lipo heal correctly.
It’s important that you rest for the first few days of your recovery after a VASER Lipo procedure. You should avoid lifting heavy objects or undergoing strenuous activity for the first week of your recovery. Compression garments are used for 6-8 weeks to decrease swelling and shape the areas of liposuction. Lymphatic massage is often recommended to facilitate the resolution of swelling.
